LXWD Series Dry-Wet Combined Counter-Flow Closed Cooling TowerDry-Wet Combined Counter-Flow

A dry-wet combined counter-flow closed tower where the dry surface cooler and counter-flow wet section exchange heat together.

The LXWD series is the culmination of LANXUN dry-wet combined technology. It runs a dry surface cooler (finned-tube heat exchanger) in series with a counter-flow wet section (coil + spray), achieving a stepped cooling strategy of "dry cooling first, wet cooling supplement." In low-temperature seasons the dry section is used first, in transition seasons dry and wet are combined, and only in high-temperature summer is the wet section fully activated — achieving a comprehensive annual water saving of 50%–70%. The anti-freeze design ensures safe winter operation. The series offers 12 A/B-type base models and 13 T-type extended models, with heat-exchanger materials selectable among aviation aluminum alloy, TP2 copper tube, and stainless-steel aluminum fins, fully meeting different water-quality and operating-condition needs.

Key Highlights

Dry-Wet Combined, 50%–70% Water Saving

Dry-section-first operating strategy achieves zero water consumption with pure dry cooling in low-temperature seasons, saving 50%–70% water annually with significant economic benefits.

Anti-Freeze Energy-Saving Design

In winter the dry section runs independently without spray water, fundamentally eliminating freezing risk with no need for heat tracing or insulation.

Multiple Heat Exchangers

Three heat-exchanger materials are offered — aviation aluminum alloy, TP2 copper tube, and stainless-steel aluminum fins — selected according to media corrosiveness.

Counter-Flow Wet Section for Efficient Heat Exchange

The wet section uses a counter-flow structure with opposite air-water flow for the deepest temperature drop, serving as a high-temperature backup to guarantee cooling capacity in extreme weather.

Working Principle and Structural Features

The following content is excerpted from the LXWD Series Dry-Wet Combined Counter-Flow Closed Cooling Tower product manual

Working Principle

Under wet cooling conditions, circulating water first passes through the finned tubes and then flows into the coil; the outer wall of the coil is wrapped by spray water, the heat of the circulating water is transferred through the coil wall to the spray water, and the spray water exchanges heat with the inlet air in counter-flow, forming saturated hot humid air that is discharged into the atmosphere by the fan. Under dry cooling conditions, the external spray water stops spraying, and heat is dissipated only through the tower's built-in finned structure, achieving water saving and plume abatement.

The unit starts wet operation only in summer and the transition seasons, with the spray pump running at variable frequency according to load; in winter the spray pump stops, giving a water-saving efficiency of 50%-70% compared with an ordinary wet cooling tower; the compact internal design reduces floor space. It is suitable for high-temperature medium cooling towers, water-scarce regions, and sites with strict plume-abatement requirements.

High-Efficiency Heat-Exchange Cooler

Aluminum fins on stainless steel base tubes, welded by TIG; SUS304 stainless steel tubes are welded by TIG.

Anti-Freeze Energy-Saving Design

The cooler uses an anti-freeze energy-saving design that ensures the circulating water is drained at low temperatures in northern regions to prevent freeze damage.

All-Steel Tower Body Structure

The fan stack, panels, and collection basin are all made of heavy galvanized Z700 premium steel for superior durability.

Exhaust and Spray System

The motor uses well-known domestic brands, with extremely low noise and failure rates; the spray pump has large flow and low head; the spray system uses centrifugal nozzles that resist clogging.
